Wizard School Workshop
The Underground Secrets of Magic

Tween / Teen Library Program
Recommended For Ages 8-16
Program Length: 1 Hour

Block Booking Discounts Offered: Yes

The Wizard School Workshop is an interactive performing arts workshop program that allows pre-teen / teen readers to try their hand at doing some “amazing things”. Unlike our library shows for younger children, this workshop-style program is very hands-on and designed to get the audience actively participating in learning the magic. The workshop is hosted by one of Michigan's most successful professional magicians, who teaches some of his “tricks of the trade.”

Participants in this program will learn how to read their friend's mind, vanish playing cards, multiply money, and many more creative illusions. Teen readers will also learn some comedy gags, good-natured practical jokes, and balloon sculpting during this program. At the end of the program, all participants get to keep all the materials, tricks, and balloon sculptures from the workshop.

The Wizard School Workshop is presented in a casual and light-hearted atmosphere. There is lots of comedy and surprises interweaved with the instruction to keep everyone laughing and entertained from beginning to end.

See the “Important Information” section below for helpful tips in planning this program.

Information

Wizard School Workshop is a unique program offering for any library. It goes hand-in-hand with celebrating current popular books about wizards, magic, and fantasy, such as Harry Potter, Eragon, and the Young Wizards series.

Important Wizard Workshop Program Information

• Since the program is hands-on, we recommend limiting attendance to a maximum of 40 people per session. Additional sessions can be added on the same day at a discounted fee, if the first session fills up.

• The performance fee includes all the supplies and materials for the participants. The kids get to take everything home with them at the end of the program.

• It is best to have participants sit in chairs. A few rows of chairs in a half-circle works great.

Youth Program Magic Shows

Wizard School Workshop and the Pure Imagination Magic Show can be presented at your library on the same day. This allows you to coordinate a program for the older kids (Wizard School Workshop) and younger audience (Pure Imagination Magic Show). Call or email us to ask about discounted pricing for hosting both programs on the same day.

Information

“I was thoroughly impressed by the 'Wizard Workshop'. This is the first summer we had Tween programming (4th-6th grade) and I was looking for a performance that would appeal to that age group. This was a perfect fit! It was entertaining, funny, and had all the kids fully engaged in learning the magic tricks. I highly recommend the program to other libraries.”
Amy N., St Joseph Library - St Joseph, Michigan
“It was a huge hit and a wonderful way to mark the beginning of programs and performances specifically for our teens. I heard only one comment as the kids reported back to me - 'When will we have him back?'”
Kerry R., Head of Youth Services, Lake Villa District Library - Illinois
