Readers Are Leaders:
A Show All About Reading

Appropriate For Children's Library Audiences / Tween Audiences
Show Length: 45 Minutes
Block Booking Discounts Offered: Yes

Readers Are Leaders is a special show about reading and story building skills that is targeted to elementary age audiences.

The high energy and highly entertaining performance weaves lessons about reading with fun skits, magic routines, and visual aids that keep the audience engaged and interacting with the show.

Some of the topics covered in this show include: Reading comprehension (who, what, when, where, why); Why reading is important; Leaders and dreamers who read (great for the 2012 summer reading theme!); and even sentence structure (what happens if you add a suffix to a word?). It all presented in a fun, age-appropriate program that is every bit entertaining as it is educational (just don't tell the kids they are learning).

The finale of the show is a great photo opportunity, as many kids from the audience are invited up to help act out the entertainer's favorite story, The Runaway Pancake, complete with costumes, fun props and funny voices! It will have every kid (both in the audience AND on stage) and their parents laughing along with this creative theatrical interpretation.

Readers Are Leaders has been considered an important part of reading enrichment for Michigan and Ohio schools for many years. Midwest Library Shows is pleased to offer a special version of this program just for library audiences.
